Blessed be. We seem to have survived intact both north and south.
A tardy tomato and pepper plant have now poked their noses through as have the Green Windsors.
The only thing left in the propogator are Mum's Love-in-the-Mist which have begun to germinate and there I must stop sowing otherwise I'll not get everything in the car.
Some of the toms could really do with potting up but that will have to wait until Easter Monday when I'm back oop north.
Blue tits are still decorating their box and we even had a chaffinch drop by the other day.
Have been trying for day's to get over to Mum's place and give her borders a bit of a prune but always get side-tracked and end up packing and sorting rather than being out in the garden. There's one bush in particular that I want to take an interest in and will take pics and post to try and ID it. Pinkish blossom and smells of almonds apparently ........... watch this space with your Botanic book at the ready.

Hi Mrs KP,
I don't know if you remember me, but I posted on your blog a couple of times last year, and found you from A4A.
Obviously, I'm getting back into the swing of the gardening bug for the coming season, having been away over the winter months, so I'm just catching up with all my (sorry to say, long forgotten), blogs that I visit.
I just wanted to convey my condolences at a very sad time, and to add that I'm sorry that I wasn't kicking about at the time. The photo which you posted is lovely, and you have to get those Love-In-The-Mist potted on!

Hi there Jo
Yes, I remember, thanks for stopping by again and your kind thoughts.
Things are drawing to a natural conclusion (of this chapter) this weekend. We said goodbye to Mum on Wednesday, then it was my 50th on Thursday and Dad's 80th yesterday ! We have to go and see my Nan today and then start thinking about how we're going to squeeze everything into Mum's little red fiesta.
The Love-in-the-Mist are germinating nicely now, so that will be a priority on Monday - trouble is, being away for so long, I have lots of priorities at home atm lmao.
It will seem strange leaving the south again ........... who knows how long for this time !
Where did you go on your travels ? Somewhere nice I hope.
Happy growing !
J

Ohhh, I didn't mean I had actually been away for the winter months (chance would be a fine thing), just away from gardening. Without a lottie, and just growing in containers, there doesn't seem much to do during winter. I've been itching to get sowing again though, and I did this with a vengence last Sunday. Got my tomatoes, cucumbers, and bedding plants in. Also, I'm trying (for the first time) aubergines and melons. The melon has germinated today, but I'm still waiting for the aubergines to poke their heads through, but the tomatoes, cucumbers and bedding plants are coming on a treat.
I've also planted other things like peas, sweet-peas, nasturtium, lettuce, radish, chard and spring onions, but I'm still waiting for these to show.
I followed tradition on Good Friday and got my first early spuds in (Pentland Javelin). This variety were really good in my containers last year. I only planted three tubers and I got over 50 good sized spuds back off them.
I'm glad that you finally got to say your goodbyes to your mum this week. It certainly has been a long time coming. Are you back ooop norf yet?
Congratulation on your milestone, and your dad's. It's the big 4 0 for me this year.
I'm looking forward to seeing some pics on your other blog of your lottie. You seemed to do so much in a short time last year. My name is still on the waiting list for a lottie. I went on last year at number 40, but there are so many people wanting plots that as one becomes available they are dividing them up into halves or quarters so that the waiting list goes down quicker, so that suits me fine. I think a full sized plot would be a bit big for me, but even a quarter plot would be good.
Glad I've found your blog again.
Jo.
