A bit of sun appeared

Lifted all the onions and am drying them in a mini greenhouse. Some have soft necks, some look a bit pitted, some (lots) have blown stems (bolting ?) I wouldn't say the crop was a great success tbh. Am going to dry them for a bit and then freeze as I don't want to take any chances on the rot setting in.

Dug over the onion bed, gave it a bit of a feed and immediately threw in the two gooseberry bushes that were in black buckets. No doubt this goes against some rule or other. We'll see.

While the onion bed was empty, took the opportunity to cut the hedge (well the OH did most of it) and did loads more watering of toms, pots etc. Managed to find the bird box now the hedge around it has been cut. Will take it down, clean and resite for next season to hopefully attract some residents.

Sweetpeas are doing lovely. Cut a huge bunch for the living room.

Toms still not setting. Final lilies are blooming. Getting some nice fuschia blooms now (must take pics). Beetroot does really well on the overcast/rainy days and flops in the sunshine.

Trays of pansies are starting to sprout, sowed another tray of lettuce. Broadies are falling all over the place but have plenty of pods reaching maturity. Also plenty of pea pods but can only ever find two that seem swollen enough and of course I eat them as I find them. :-)

Seem to have a new brood of baby sparrows which make excellent viewing watching them practising their flying technique. Aubergines are in bloom but when I tried to hand pollinate them during the week, no pollen got onto the cotton bud ! Have got two of them outside just to see what happens.

Cucumbers are really doing ............ nothing. Got a couple outside but they just don't seem to want to grow at all.

Squash is creeping over the bed next door. Lots of flowers forming. Courgettes providing food.

Am relatively pleased with everything's progress, just wish these blessed toms would hurry up and set.
